Nothing, as long as you don’t ever fly your drone outdoors or your drone weighs less than 0.55 pounds. If, however, you do fly an unregistered drone weighing more than 0.55 pounds outdoors, there are some potential consequences. Under federal law, failure to register an aircraft (remember, a drone is an aircraft) may result in regulatory and criminal sanctions. The FAA may assess civil penalties up to $27,500. Criminal penalties include fines of up to $250,000 and/or imprisonment for up to three years. Just take five minutes and register your drone.
